One day, an apparent simpleton went to a lawyer, told the story of a litigation, and asked the lawyer to predict the possibilities of success. Upon receiving an optimistic answer, the apparent simpleton remarked: "I told you the story in the words of my adversary... now I know my chance of success!"
Modiano basic principle has always been to brief clients on all the possible facets and consequences of a problem, from the procedural options to the economic implications, without omitting comments of the devil's advocate.
The policy of our firm is that it is not enough to answer a question generically. The possible reactions of third parties must also be considered - whether of the examiner, the judge or the adversary party - the costs must be estimated and the chances of success predicted, in order to provide an overall view of the best options.
Only in observing this policy, Modiano feels that a complete service has been given.
