The present economic crisis makes it increasingly important to protect and defend the intellectual patrimony of undertakings, i.e. the patents, marks, designs, domain names, etc.

The power of the ideas is in fact the instrument that makes companies competitive on the market, and Italy and Italians are giving continual proof thereof, without surrendering. In fact, also this year the numbers are reassuring: from January to August approximately 6,000 patent applications and 37,000 trademark applications were filed in Italy, 2% more than last year. Moreover, despite the crisis, Italian companies continue to file patents abroad, confirmation of the positive influence that the export section has on the national industrial economy.

This continuing sensitivity to industrial property was converted in 2012 into the first Industrial Property Fair, an autumnal event conceived to respond, in concrete terms, to the need for information on the importance of patents and marks and their effective management.

As a result of the interest aroused, in September 2013 the second edition was held, combined with conventions and seminars, amongst which the first Italian IP Summit & Forum introducing companies and professionals of the sector. The Fair was therefore a meeting point to discuss subjects of greater relevance for the undertakings and to develop strategies for the protection of technological development above all abroad, aimed at the internationalisation of entrepreneurial activities.
