Maria works mainly in trademarks. She provides tailoredsolutions and strategies to protect intellectual property, working both withmultinationals and with SMEs in a wide range of sectors, including food &beverage, retail, publishing, media, electronics, software, packaging, consumergoods, fashion, beauty and entertainment.
She assists clients in preparing and filing theirtrademark applications, as well as with prosecution of those applications. Shealso provides validity opinions and advises on infringement of third-partytrademarks and, more generally, on unfair competition.
She has built up significant experience in trademarkregistrability opinions and filing strategies for national, European,international and foreign trademarks. She also has expert knowledge of theprocedures for surveillance, renewal and transfer of ownership of trademarks.
Over her career, she has gained experience in many areasof the world of intellectual property, including the drafting of agreements anduse licenses, assignment contracts for trademarks and patents, filingunpublished works with the SIAE (Italian association of authors andpublishers), and the reassignment of domain names.
Maria obtained her law degree from university with athesis in business law, with a focus on copyright titled “Legal protection ofthe television format”.
Prior to joining Modiano & Partners, Maria practicedas a lawyer with law firms specializing in industrial law, copyright, andconfidentiality & data protection.
