Marco works in the department for prosecution and maintenance of European and extra-European trademarks.
He assists clients in obtaining exclusivity rights, in particular with problems in prosecuting their trademark applications at the examination stage, by studying and preparing the most effective defense strategy for each individual trademark application.
His practice includes handling provisional trademark refusals and oppositions against trademark applications, and also settlement agreements to resolve disputes.
Marco also assists clients in assessing the best trademark filing strategy and with cease-and-desist letters.
He has extensive experience with foreign and domestic clients, whom he assists in liaising with partners, licensees and distributors across multiple countries against attempts at counterfeiting and unfair competition, and in negotiations to assign prior rights registered by third parties.
Marco advises companies operating in several different sectors of technology and industry, including fashion, automotive, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, foods, cosmetics, construction and transport.
He handles matters for clients of various sizes, including large corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises, private individuals, venture capital firms and angel investors.
Marco graduated in law from university with a thesis titled “The new Community trademark”.
Prior to joining Modiano & Partners, Marco worked at a law firm specializing in civil cases.
