Stefania works in examining patent searches, drafting technical/legal freedom-to-operate opinions, and prior art searches. She assists clients with patenting procedures, from gathering the necessary information and documents to drafting the patent report for filing, right up to the examination and grant stages. She also assists clients with out-of-court matters or lawsuits as a patent attorney.
When assigned a new project, Stefania draws on her skills and long experience to propose the most suitable forms of protection, highlighting the pros and cons, and drawing up the best defense strategy according to the expectations and needs of the client.
She has extensive experience in making an overall assessment of a client's intellectual property portfolio in order to monitor coverage, both on the merits and geographically, and suggest necessary updates depending on the client's commercial needs.
Her practice also includes providing training in intellectual property, both in-house and for clients to help them manage their dockets and gain an awareness of the extent of their exclusive rights.
She specializes in many areas of engineering, including mechanical transmissions, agricultural machinery, lifting apparatus and manufacturing machinery in general, apparatus for industrial systems, workshop equipment, fluid dynamics components and circuits, biomedical devices, innovative multilayer materials and their production technologies.
Her clients include private inventors, company in-house designers (from artisans to multinational companies) and consultant engineers engaged to develop projects to order.
Stefania graduated from university with a thesis in mechanical engineering and management engineering titled “Rationalization of physical flows and dimensioning of a warehouse for a maker of agricultural machinery”.
Prior to joining Modiano & Partners, Stefania worked in an engineering company. She later changed career to become an intellectual property attorney.
