Stefano works mainly in patents. He works closely with clients, assisting them in the purchase and exploitation of patents, utility models, designs, trademarks, copyrights and know-how.
In particular, he handles the filing and prosecution of applications for patents, utility models and designs, as well as patent prior art searches and analysis of prior art patents.
He offers clients freedom-to-operate and validity opinions on patents, and assists with out-of-court matters and as a patent attorney in lawsuits before national courts. He also has extensive experience in drafting licensing and non-disclosure agreements.
Stefano helps clients evaluate and develop their patent and trademark portfolios: he has extensive experience in advising on the best strategies for filing and defending intellectual property rights in Italy and abroad.
He assists clients in many sectors, including mechanics, machine tools, manufacturing machinery, printing presses, agrifood machinery, construction, computing, automotive, robotics, food & beverage, clothing, and biomedical, to cite only a few.
He offers advice both to large national industrial corporations and to small and medium enterprises, and also to individual inventors, universities and startups.
Stefano graduated from university with a thesis titled “Wear in joint components for orthopedics: the state of the art and study of third-body wear”.
Prior to joining Modiano & Partners, Stefano worked for a well-known tissue engineering company engaged in R&D of innovative biomaterials, where he worked on the development of bioreactors and also in patent prior art searches and drafting patents.
