Karin is a member of our litigation department. Her practice covers all areas of intellectual property, both contentious and non-contentious, with particular emphasis on trademarks, industrial designs, copyright, patents, trade secrets, appellations of origin and geographical indications, copyright and associated rights, unfair competition, and arbitration.
She acts for major national and international clients, assisting them in drawing up and implementing strategies to enforce IP rights before national and international courts, as well as before the European Court of Justice.
Karin is particularly active in complex IP issues and in litigation with cross-border implications, often involving complex pan-European issues.
She has long experienced in various forms of commercial relationships, with a particular focus on licensing, distribution and franchising agreements, and on confidential and settlement agreements in general.
In trademark matters, Karin deals with validity and infringement opinions and prior art searches, and handles the filing and prosecution of trademarks and designs at national and international level, including oppositions, invalidity actions, and re-assignment of domain names.
Karin graduated from university with a thesis titled “Legal aspects in some works of G.E. Lessing”.
Prior to joining Modiano & Partners, Karin worked for several international law firms.
