Laura is a member of our European and foreign trademark opposition department.
She assists clients with filing and prosecuting oppositions, invalidation actions and non-use cancellation actions against infringing trademarks, both before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and before national Trademark Offices all over the world, at all stages of judgment.
Her practice also includes evaluating the best strategy to challenge third-party confusingly similar trademarks, drafting opinions on how to protect clients' rights, and drafting and filing briefs, affidavits and proofs of use.
She also assists clients in out-of-court matters: sending cease-and-desist letters, handling negotiations, reaching worldwide coexistence agreements, and drawing up undertakings and settlement agreements in general.
Laura is frequently involved in defending clients' trademarks from all kinds of dispute, such as cease-and-desist letters, oppositions, invalidation actions and non-use cancellation actions at European level, and she assists both national and foreign clients in defending their rights.
She also helps clients defend their trademarks against office actions issued by the EUIPO for lack of distinctiveness and descriptiveness, in order to obtain the registration of those trademarks.
She assists clients operating in the sectors of fashion, automotive, luxury goods, nutrition, agrifood, winemaking, telecommunications, electrotechnical, consumer goods (particularly electronic devices), and professional football clubs.
She handles matters for large multinational corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, sole traders and private individuals, both foreign and domestic.
Laura graduated from university with a thesis titled “Recent evolutions in the use of force in international relations”.
Prior to joining Modiano & Partners, Laura completed her law apprenticeship with a law firm specializing in civil law and transport law.
