Silvia Maranesi

Specialist
Silvia is a member of our trademark department. She manages clients’ trademark portfolios and assists them with filing and prosecuting trademark applications at national, foreign, European and international level, and she also conducts prior art searches to advise clients on filing strategies.

Her practice includes trademark renewal procedures, including declarations of use and assistance with collecting and evaluating proofs of use when required by the local Trademark Offices.

Silvia also works on recordals of changes of ownership (assignments, mergers, changes of name and legal form) for trademarks and patents, drafting dedicated agreements to govern such changes.

She also handles opposition proceedings, active and passive, in defense of clients’ trademarks.

She assists domestic and foreign clients in a wide variety of sectors, from large multinational corporations in the fields of fashion, luxury goods, food and automotive, to small and medium-sized enterprises and startups in the field of technological innovation.

Silvia graduated from university in law with a thesis titled “Minors big and small: family law profiles”.

Prior to joining Modiano & Partners, Silvia worked in the litigation department of some multinational corporations, dealing with contracts, company law and intellectual property law, and managing the corporate trademark & patent portfolio. Her law apprenticeship  was with a law firm specializing in private law, after which she passed the bar exam. She has also worked with an international law firm, dealing with company contracts and cross-border litigation. Immediately after graduating, Silvia worked in Chicago with the Italian American Chamber of Commerce.
